A great net starts with great wood

We source locally harvested, sustainable timber for our nets whenever possible. We look for woods with straight grain for the hoops and woods that are highly figured for the handle inserts.

The strips that make up the hoops are steamed and then clamped to a form and left to dry overnight before being glued up.

Each net goes through three clamping phases before final shaping. We have a lot of clamps!

The bulk of the shaping process is done by hand with rasps,files, planes, spokeshaves and sandpaper, lots and lots of sandpaper.

After final sanding, the nets are given seven coats of a top secret oil based finish, that gives our nets a beautiful finish that can easily be touched up down the road.
